Oasis (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Oasis mobile application (“App”) and the associated platform services for electric bicycle battery swapping in Tanzania. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account & Identity Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Mobile phone number (used as your login identifier)
- Full name (provided during profile setup)
Location Information
With your permission, the App accesses your device’s GPS location to show your current position on the map and identify the nearest battery-swapping stations. Location data is used only in-app and is not stored on our servers in relation to your personal identity.
Camera
The App uses your device camera solely to scan QR codes on battery cabinets when initiating a battery swap. We do not capture, store, or transmit photographs or video.
Wallet & Transaction Data
We record wallet top-up requests, swap transactions, and balance transfers to maintain accurate billing and service records. Payment requests are processed through a third-party mobile money gateway; we store the transaction reference and status, but not your mobile money PIN or full payment credentials.
Support Communications
Messages you send through in-app support tickets are stored to allow our team to respond and track resolution of your issue.
Device & Usage Data
We may collect anonymised crash reports and diagnostic information to improve app stability. This does not include personally identifiable information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To process battery swap sessions and wallet transactions
- To show nearby charging stations on the map
- To send OTP verification messages to your phone number
- To respond to support tickets and resolve issues
- To improve the reliability and performance of the platform
- To comply with applicable laws and regulations in Tanzania
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Mobile money gateway: Your phone number and top-up amount are sent to our payment partner to process wallet deposits.
- SMS provider: Your phone number is shared with our SMS gateway to deliver OTP verification messages.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose data when required by Tanzanian law, a court order, or governmental authority.
All third-party partners are required to handle your data securely and only for the stated purpose.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Transaction and wallet records are retained for a minimum of five (5) years as required for financial record-keeping purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit and access controls on our servers. Sensitive credentials (such as API secrets) are never stored in the App binary. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Withdraw consent for location access at any time (through your device settings)

7. Children
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes we will notify you via in-app message.
